Africa

  • Non-Radar through most of the countries, expect long periods of no communication with ATC.
  • Consider requesting Security Briefings for your first time trips into any country. This applies to all countries throughout the world. An informed traveler is a safe traveler.
  • Some locations in Africa will require cash payment for Handling Services and/or Fuel. Ensure your Service Provider has secured credit or has provided an estimate on cash required.
  • Ensure crew and pax have an updated health record and have obtained all required immunizations prior to traveling. Even if it is not required Yellow Fever Vaccine and Prophylaxis to prevent Malaria is recommended.
  • FIFA World Cup is in South Africa June 11-July 11 2010. Make hotel reservations and request parking well in advance for all matches. PPR and slot are not normally required for Private flights into South Africa but may be during the World Cup.
  • All countries in Africa (except South Africa) require landing and overflight permits. 3 days notice on all overflight and 5 day on all landing permits is the normal amount of time needed. Some require longer.
  • Check with State department and your insurance provider before landing in Libya or Sudan.
  • Visa is required for crew and pax in a lot of countries, check with your service provider for the latest information on the countries you are traveling to.

Before The Trip Begins

  • Gather information about the trip.
  • Identify special passenger requests.
  • Analyze the trip.
  • Obtain required documents.
  • Present the flight plan to the customer.

During The Trip

  • Maintain constant customer contact.
  • Take care of any trip changes.
  • Resolve any ground handling issues.
  • Provide customs and weather updates.
  • Provide updates on sports scores (for avid fans).

After The Trip

  • Obtain feedback from the crew.
  • Ensure all passenger requests have been accommodated.
  • Provide a detailed invoice to the client.
