Operational Briefs

Australia

  • ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) can be obtained for a holiday or short business trip. (less than 3 months). This document is much easier and faster to obtain than a visa.
  • As with most countries, you must arrive and depart from an AOE. Ensure that your itinerary complies with this requirement. Stage 2 aircraft are not allowed to operate in Australian Territory. Exemptions can be obtained if the flight is operated “in the public good”.
  • TSP (Transport Security Program) must be filed for all aircraft arriving into Australia. The first time this is applied for it can be a lengthy process. Australian agents can speed the process up but still give at least 2 weeks for the first arrival. Once aircraft and operator is in the Australian DOT system the application process shortens.
  • Disinfectant spray (like “Top of decent”) is required before landing in Australia when arriving from another country. Some Hawaiian FBO’s have this spray but it is highly recommended to purchase before your trip due to limited supply. Hawaiian FBO’s may appreciate it if you purchase a case or 2 of it in Australia for them, if you are making a tech stop there.
